my husband(32 years)is on warfarin since 5 years but last year a relative died because her blood was too thin .she was 70 years. Now my hubby do not takes his warfarin regularly.he pretends that it has many side effects and that his blood may become too thin.he don't go for his INR test regularly and stops his visits to the doctorHusband stops taking warfarin (without doctor's advice)?
He should trust his instincts. You can not consistently poison vital systems and expect a positive outcome. This area of medicine is still back in the dark ages. Warfarin is rat poison. They feed it to rats and they bleed to death. This is one of the most difficult drugs to dose because it interacts with almost every drug and many foods. So you eat the wrong thing and you bleed to death. I think I would take my chances on the blood clots. Husband stops taking warfarin (without doctor's advice)?
It does depend why your husband is on warfarin...naturally warfarin is a blood thinner and a regular INR is needed! Warfarin is a difficult drug if not monitored. Make sure your GP is a good one, and get your husband to visit him and discuss the discontinuation of warfarin if your husband is determined.
But seriously...hes been on that medication for a reason.
it all depends on why he is on warfarin.
If he needs it life long, then he should take it all he may die of blood clot blocking various blood vessels.
