My husband is in the Air Force and has been for 16 yrs now. He was young when he joined (19 or 20), and was absolutely the best thing for him, and still is the best thing for our family. I honestly don't know much about the Coast Guard, but as far as the Air Force goes I can tell you they are concerned about their families (not just the service member) more so than the other branches (I have many non Air Force military neighbors who have told me this over and over). Typically Air Force housing is nicer and newer, their hospitals are more efficient, etc. You can't beat military heath insurance (although it can be frustrating some times), for an example I am going through infertility treatment right now and it is totally paid for by our insurance.
As far as how they treat the families, we were foster parents for a 13 month old girl for 6 months, and my husbands boss would call even me to see how we were doing and to see if we needed any help. And when we would see his boss's boss, they would ask.
Time off (or leave as they call it in the military) is nice too, they get 2 or 3 days of leave a month, right now my husband as over 3 months of leave saved up. They also have family days where he gets the days off to spend with his family. They pay for any college class he takes while he is in, and after he completes his commitment he can use his GI Bill.
There really is so much I can't even tell you, if you have anymore questions feel free to email me.
Good luckMy husband might join the airforce or coast guard... any advice for me... PLEASE?
What part do you need advice on? it's a very vague question.
How old are you? How old is he? Why is he considering the military?
If you have a strong relationship, you should be able to talk to him and express your concern. If you don't want him to go, and he is willing to sacrifice your marriage to go, you can either go with him and be a supporting wife, or you can decide that he isn't willing to work with you and you will need to part ways.
Don't forget, even though you are married, you need to do what is best for YOU...not just him.My husband might join the airforce or coast guard... any advice for me... PLEASE?

Also, if you don't have kids you might consider joining together. Great combined pay and benefits and they'll station you together.
Tell your husband to join the Army. Better chances to get promoted
